Ophelia Must Die

9th - 11th August, 5pm

As one of Shakespeare’s most tormented female characters, Ophelia offers a wealth of inspiration and desperation in seeking happiness in a world of pain.

Death is inevitable for Ophelia.

Lost to her madness and caught between love and betrayal she seeks an end to her despair. Ophelia must die.

Inspired by European practices including the work of Heiner Muller, Jerzy Growtoski and Peter Brook, Ophelia Must Die is piece exploring the varying degrees of persona of feminine perspectives with an all-male ensemble.

Exploring texts that examine the role of the female, live music and song, Memory Implosion offers their unique take on Hamlet, Ophelia, madness and the feminine.
